Waiting...

Well, my resume has been sent out, and I just finished up 2 interviews, one by phone yesterday and the other face to face today. Granted, they are at the company I work for now but in different areas than where I am now so we will see! So, now it is just a waiting game. Hopefully I will hear something soon. I am staying hopeful!
Now this morning I almost had it out with a coworker!! I mean she royally pissed me off. She told me yesterday that there was no need to dress up for an interview on a Friday when the company is the same and everyone will have on jeans anyway. Well!! I am sorry but I don't care who the interview is with, I am not wearing jeans. She then proceeds to tell me that when she had her interview here she wore jeans because it was on a Friday and she had been here umpteen years. Fine! If you feel comfortable and feel like they won't care then do it. I just feel like you should look presentable for a business interview. That being said, this morning she and another coworker tried to make me feel bad for wearing a dress today. They asked me why I dressed up and why didn't i just wear jeans and be comfortable. I tried to tell them that I liked looking nice. They tell me then that people don't care anymore, that the people interviewing us wouldn't mind. I had it!!!! I looked at little Ms. Know It All and said "I'm sorry but it is just plain tacky to wear jeans to an interview!!" She disagrees with me and then when I tried to explain myself again she looks at the other lady and says "just leave her alone, she has her own opinion and that is fine." Damn straight it's fine!! As far as the picture goes, that explains how I felt about her this morning. I would've loved to rumble w/ her bony ass!!!

Needless to say, I think the interview went well even with all the drama that people in a workplace can create :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Of course, your co-worker is wrong. Only a fool would wear jeans to a job interview. I mean, you can wear most anything (within reason) to work once you HAVE the job, but what they say about first impressions is always true.

You're right, she's wrong. Case closed!

Have a happy weekend and good luck with the job search. I just retired 9/1, but am thinking of looking for a part-time job, so I'm in the same boat as you!! LOL..

I am amazed at what people think is acceptable these days. It is absolutely not acceptable to wear jeans for a job interview. It just blows my mind. The scary thing is that these people work in a "professional" setting.
