Okay, so I just found out that the company I work for is not going to be giving severance packages to the people that get laid off in the next few months. WHAT!!!???!! How can that be? I mean, they want you to jobline and try to find something internally but there are only so many dept's and only so many jobs to go around. I was going to wait to be laid off, collect my severance, and use the money to go back to school for nursing (seems we are having a shortage of those here South Carolina). Anyway, doesn't look like that is an option at this point. And, while I despise this company for its many backstabbing, biggoted, racist views (just to name a few), I really don't like the idea of trying to go to another company and leave shortly after starting to go back to school if the opportunity arises.
What to do? A hospital here offers a scholarship to pay your way through nursing school, but you have to be in the nursing program and of course being ancient as I am my SAT's are not up to date so I am lacking 2 classes to be in the program. One class I can take at night but the other is a lab that is only offered during the day.
Anyway, I have applied here and will wait and see what happens. Whatever is meant to be will be.
By the way I work for Wamu, which should actually be Wa-boo! cause it sucks!!!
On a brighter note--At least I don't have these jobs!!!

exactly...they are so large, the figure no one will argue..i say get out why you can girl, before it gets really bad...trust me, i worked there for 11 years...my entire adult life, they didnt care...they have no compassion, not family oriented, it is all about the buck...
I have to say that getting laid off by that company was the best thing that ever happened to me. I can't believe they aren't paying severance this time around. That added to the benefit of getting laid off I must say.
well come to find out they might be paying they just wanted people to jobline so they didn't have to pay it. go figure!!
