Waiting...

Well, my resume has been sent out, and I just finished up 2 interviews, one by phone yesterday and the other face to face today. Granted, they are at the company I work for now but in different areas than where I am now so we will see! So, now it is just a waiting game. Hopefully I will hear something soon. I am staying hopeful!
Now this morning I almost had it out with a coworker!! I mean she royally pissed me off. She told me yesterday that there was no need to dress up for an interview on a Friday when the company is the same and everyone will have on jeans anyway. Well!! I am sorry but I don't care who the interview is with, I am not wearing jeans. She then proceeds to tell me that when she had her interview here she wore jeans because it was on a Friday and she had been here umpteen years. Fine! If you feel comfortable and feel like they won't care then do it. I just feel like you should look presentable for a business interview. That being said, this morning she and another coworker tried to make me feel bad for wearing a dress today. They asked me why I dressed up and why didn't i just wear jeans and be comfortable. I tried to tell them that I liked looking nice. They tell me then that people don't care anymore, that the people interviewing us wouldn't mind. I had it!!!! I looked at little Ms. Know It All and said "I'm sorry but it is just plain tacky to wear jeans to an interview!!" She disagrees with me and then when I tried to explain myself again she looks at the other lady and says "just leave her alone, she has her own opinion and that is fine." Damn straight it's fine!! As far as the picture goes, that explains how I felt about her this morning. I would've loved to rumble w/ her bony ass!!!

Needless to say, I think the interview went well even with all the drama that people in a workplace can create :)

On pins and needles

Okay, so I have sent my resume out to several different places, and also to the company I currently work for (even though I would rather not stay here). I haven't heard anything yet, but it has only been like 2 days since I e-mailed everyone. Only time will tell. Meanwhile, I am on pins and needles waiting to hear something. I just have to have confidence in myself and my abilities and exude that somehow.

On a different note, Grey's Anatomy was so good last night. I thought my heart would jump out of my chest when McDreamy told Meredith that he was in love with her forever. That was only one of the many good points of the show last night :) I cannot wait for this season.

And on a totally different note, speaking of funny signs here are a few more ...

Karma

Yep!!! Prime example that karma sucks!!!! But this example is so priceless!!!!

Funny signs

The picture of my soul

What Your Soul Really Looks Like
You are quite expressive and thoughtful. You see the world in a way that others are blind to.
You are a grounded person, but you also leave room for imagination and dreams. You feet may be on the ground, but you're head is in the clouds.
You see yourself with pretty objective eyes. How you view yourself is almost exactly how other people view you.
Your near future is likely to be filled with great successes and accomplishments. You just need to figure out how to get there.
For you, love is all about caring and comfort. You couldn't fall in love with someone you didn't trust.
Inside the Room of Your Soul
Okay, so I don't know about the whole grounded thing, but head in the clouds sounds about right! :) I do like the bright future part though, and yes I am definitely trying to figure out how to get there right now. As far as love goes, that hit the nail on the head.

Why....

don't they sell this in stores so I can drink about 5 cans before going to my hubby's grandma's house????

Here goes nothing

Okay, so I just found out that the company I work for is not going to be giving severance packages to the people that get laid off in the next few months. WHAT!!!???!! How can that be? I mean, they want you to jobline and try to find something internally but there are only so many dept's and only so many jobs to go around. I was going to wait to be laid off, collect my severance, and use the money to go back to school for nursing (seems we are having a shortage of those here South Carolina). Anyway, doesn't look like that is an option at this point. And, while I despise this company for its many backstabbing, biggoted, racist views (just to name a few), I really don't like the idea of trying to go to another company and leave shortly after starting to go back to school if the opportunity arises.

What to do? A hospital here offers a scholarship to pay your way through nursing school, but you have to be in the nursing program and of course being ancient as I am my SAT's are not up to date so I am lacking 2 classes to be in the program. One class I can take at night but the other is a lab that is only offered during the day.

Anyway, I have applied here and will wait and see what happens. Whatever is meant to be will be.

By the way I work for Wamu, which should actually be Wa-boo! cause it sucks!!!

On a brighter note--At least I don't have these jobs!!!

It's My Party!!!!

Okay, so this weekend I celebrated my 28th birthday. Everything was pretty good, except for the fit that my child through in a store we went in and except for the fact that I have discovered that my child is a klepto!!!
First of all, we needed lawnmower blades so we went to the hardware store and my son saw a tractor that you ride on by pedaling it (kind of like an old school hot wheels-lol). Anyway, that thing cost like $179. No way with his birthday coming up was I buying that (plus i really didn't have the money on me for that.) So anyway, he proceeds to kick and scream and do everything but tear down store shelves. I proceeded to calmly but firmly tell him he would stop and he would stop now. Well, apparently that wasn't on his agenda, so the hubbster picks him up (kicking and screaming at the top of his lungs) and proceeds to carry him out of the store--to the shock and horror of everyone around (good grief I didnt' realize people could stare like that. At least we were taking him out of the store and not leaving him there for everyone to hear.) So, needless to say we left empty handed.

Well, then my husband starts cleaning out Nathan's pants pockets that he wore to church yesterday and one by one little tiny dinosaurs start falling out!!!! Well, those aren't his toys! We asked him where he got them and he says "Sunday School" and we asked if the teacher gave them to him and he says "no. I take them". We were like "you took them without asking?!?!" he just calmly replied "Yep!". Oh I was upset. So I told him he would be taking them back next week and he would tell the teacher that he was sorry. (I am so turning into my mom like the time she made my brother take back erasers that he stole and tell the clerk he was sorry).
He wanted to play with "his" dinosaurs later on but I told him no way cause he wouldn't have them to play with if he hadn't taken them in the first place.

Other than the commotion my son caused this weekend all went pretty well.

I made a cake last night to bring to work. It has gone over pretty well, so that has made my day. Never know if people are going to like my stuff or not and the fear of rejection causes me not to bring a lot of the stuff that I make. I guess I will have to just go for it from now on!!

A time for remembrance

Of course we all knew that yesterday would be a time for remembrance, and recognition. It was everywhere you turned around. The radio, the t.v., the computer, etc. I didn't post yesterday as I wanted to because time didn't allow, but I wanted to take a few minutes now and just remember the loved ones that were lost.
I watched the live memorial show on ABC via the internet yesterday, but only got a few minutes into it when I realized there was no way I would get anywork done if I continued to watch because the tears started flowing without me realizing they were there at first. I guess the fact that there was a group that was singing "You Raise Me Up" didn't help either--such a sentimental song. :)
Anyway, just wanted to take a moment to reflect, and even though I didn't lose anyone that I knew, and I didn't know anyone who did lose someone, my heart still breaks over and over again for the senseless and horrific tragedy that occurred that day.
May God bless all!!!!

It's a girl!!!

Okay so it has been a while since I last posted. Not much has happened. I do have a new niece. Her name is Rebecca Claire and she was born 7/27/06. She had quite an ordeal the first few days she was here. She was early plus the cord was wrapped around her neck so she had to go to NICU for 48 hours but now she is happy, healthy, and at home with her mom, dad, and big sister. I wish her picture would post on here, but take my word for it--she is beautiful!!! Even if i am just a little biased. :)

Delayed

Okay, so I have been on vacation for the last week therefore the posting absence! Alot of things have happened. A friend of mine started work from home, we went to the lake (last minute idea), I read an awesome book ("The Pledge" by Rob Kean), I got sun poisoning (uugghh), and refereed my son and his cousin the last part of the week. All was good though. We weren't going to go to the lake, but we decided Wednesday night to go so we just upped and left. Stayed till last night and now I am back at work. It feels strange right now, because this time last week I was all into my book, The Pledge, which by the way is AWESOME if any of you ever get a chance to read it. It got me to thinking that I really would like to write a book but I just don't know where to begin. I think I may start working on that, who knows. Anyway, so my son who is 2 1/2 and his little cousin who is 3 1/2 just wouldn't quit aggravating each other. It was like she wanted to sit on my lap with him, and then when he wanted to sit on her mom's lap (my hubby's cousin) she would be like "NO! that's not your mommy.!" So, my son would just lay his head in her lap just to annoy the 3 1/2 yr old. Then he would yell at her for something and the cycle just would not break itself. I mean they just kept on and on and on at each other. Of course though my son got yelled at more than the little girl did because her parents aren't as strict as we are on my son, so of course she got away with more. However, yesterday when she had slammed the door in my son's face for the second time and gotten away with it, I was ready to rumble. I kind of felt like Cartman and wanted to say "YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHO-RI-TAH!!

She did get punished for her attitude on the 3rd slam. Normal toddler stuff all in all though.

So, that is about it for now. Just wanted to check in and give an update on how my week was.

Oh! and the sun poison? Well, I have ruled out poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac. I have ruled out that I am now somehow allergic to aloe because I put lotion on my feet and my back and shoulders, and the only place I am broken out is my arms and they got more sun than anything. So, who knows? I just know that my arms are severly itching and I wish it would quit. I hate being fair-skinned. And what good is sunscreen if I am going to break out in the sun with it on? Oh well, such is another one of life's dilemmas that I will get over.

Hi to vacation, see ya later to friends!!

oh yes!!! Today I do a dance of joy because today is my last day of work for a week!!! I am on vacation all next week and I can't wait. Plus, who doesn't love a computerized dancing baby first thing in the morning. Anyway, today is also bittersweet for several of my co-workers. For today is their last day here at this company. Our company had a pretty big lay off several months ago and I personally know a couple of people that were affected.

So, to them I say that I wish I could share Tinkerbell's magic and sprinkle some fairy dust on them--even though that stuff makes you fly but you get my point-- and make them stay, but I know that change is inevitable and yet it still sucks. At least I still have my blog and e-mail which I will constantly be on because I would go crazy without someone more sane to level me out (and you know who you are). So, I have written a poem that I am dedicating to certain people and they know who they are. :)

If only I could turn back the time
And make you stay here a while,
Or if only I could walk with you
the very next few miles.

If only things didn't have to
change and you could still stay here
Then maybe the good times wouldn't end
And I wouldn't feel like shedding tears.

But I know you must move on
to bigger and better things
To follow your heart is more important
Always follow your dreams.

So, for now it is see you later
And not a tearful good-bye
For I will see you soon again
Maybe even walk with you those miles.

My newest goal

Well, on top of losing weight so that I am not a complete lard butt when and if I ever get pregnant again, I have decided that my new goal is to make a cake that melts in your mouth. You know the kind that you get from the bakery where the icing is just so fluid and the cake is the moistest you have ever eaten. Don't get me wrong. I have made my fair share of decorated cakes for birthday parties and I have even made a wedding cake, but I want mine to be bakery perfect. Mine have received wonderful reviews but I want "melt in your mouth, none left over goodness". I am researching ideas for different buttercream icings and I will probably experiment with a few while I am on vacation next week.
The only reason I have decided that this is my newest goal is because a wedding cake was brought into work yesterday for a bridal shower. It was gorgeous and the icing was perfection. Not too sweet, and it just collapsed onto my tongue in the most wonderful way. So, I know I can do it, but it is just a matter of getting into the kitchen and practice, practice, practice.
Who knows? I might one day even be able to pull off this:
highly unlikely, but possible!!!

Open mouth, insert foot!!!

Okay, so I stopped by the store this morning to get a newspaper and a drink as I usually do. The girl behind the counter, who I speak to every morning, got to talking to me about age. So, I said "Well, I will be 28 in September". She replies "28?" with eyebrows raised as if to say "who are you kidding?". So, I asked her if I really looked that old and she stutters out "oh! n-n- no. I just thought you were older cause you act older. And you know with being married and having a kid." Okay, no what she thought is that I was already in my mid-thirties (and not the youthful looking early thirties that most of my friends are) (and you know who you are Myra :) ) and I am an old frumpy fuddy dud that has lost my youthful glow. Nice recovery try on that comment, but you just opened your mouth and inserted foot. Oh well, it could've been worse I suppose. However, I will not let this ruin my day. I will look at it as an incentive to start trying to look my age and acting a little younger. I will try to stay young at heart. :)

BORED!!!!

That would describe me today. Bored out of my mind. Not too much to write about. But being bored has its ups and downs. Like, one of the ups is it allows me time to daydream about what kind of new hairdo I want. It is short right now with bangs, and I can't decide if I want some really funky hairdo with cool color, or just a blah-blah-freakin-blah-i-don't-know-how-much-more-boring-i-can-get hairdo. Looks like the coloring (which I have never done) is winning right now. Only time will tell how brave I will be.
It also allows me to daydream on just how many more children do I want, or how many more do I think my already UGH body can take. I want 3 more, hubby wants 1 more. We will see what happens. Already working on the 2nd one. I am excited about just about the aspect of getting pregnant and carrying the child. I loved being pregnant the 1st time around, so hopefully the 2nd one (if I am lucky enough to get pregnant again) will be easy as well. The only hard part was the actual labor. I know you are saying, "Well, DUH birdbrain. That would be why it is called labor!!!". I know that, I am referring to the fact that I don't want to be told after 11 1/2 hrs of labor that I now need a C Sec. Not Fun!!! Stubborn child wouldn't make his grand entrance.
One of the last ups to my boring day is that it allows me time to blog and to write to coworkers who I don't get to see very much and to read their blogs. Interesting stuff. That's why they are linked to mine. :)
Oh! yeah! 2 hrs to go at work! Think I will daydream about what to do tonight before my little one goes to bed. :)

What do people envy about you?

AAWWW that's so nice. Don't know how true it is, but still it is nice.
People Envy Your Compassion

You have a kind heart and an unusual empathy for all living creatures. You tend to absorb others' happiness and pain.
People envy your compassion, and more importantly, the connections it helps you build. And compassionate as you are, you feel for them.

How do you communicate?

You Communicate With Your Body

This isn't as bad as it sounds, it just means that you're a "touchy-feely" person.
You need a lot of affection in your life. And for you, this means both giving and receiving little touches.
Warm hearted, you bond with people easily. In fact, you often feel a little sad when you're not in the company of others.
A little moody, you tend to be controlled by your emotions. But a bit hug always comforts you!

I am a Britney Basher!!!

What on earth would give this poor lil' punkin' of a girl the idea that she is hated by millions? Maybe because she is. She wants her privacy? Well, then quit dressing like a 2 bit trailer trash truck stop hooker. In this Dateline interview with Matt Lauer she explains that she just wants to be left alone and to have her privacy. Well, Ms. Spears, you can't have it both ways. You can't love the life you have and not want to give it up, but want the paparrazi to spare you and your precious little family. I mean come on. The crocodile tears really had me there for a moment. But even through the whole facade she manages to chomp open-mouthed on that wad of gum and not finish one sentence. Oh!!! And how dare she compare herself to the likes of Goldie Hawn and Julia Roberts?!!!! "Well look at Julia Roberts. Her husband was married with kids when they met and you don't see her getting bashed like I do." Oops! # 4..Danny Moder (julia's hubby didn't have kids when they met). Also, she doesn't go around parading like the cover of Truck Stop monthly. I mean come on Britney get real. Okay, I know as a mom I don't always look my best, but that is no excuse for me to (at 6 months pregnant) go around w/ unkempt hair, bad makeup, and even worse choice of clothing. I just loved having to stare at her boobs about to pop out of her top with the side of her bra showing. Real classy Brit!!! And then what does Kevin mean by everything comes out of his pocket. How!?!?!?! What job has he had lately? The only thing surfacing out of Kevin's pants is his little bit of manhood that has spawned 3 kids, soon to be 4. Get real K Fed.
One last thing. She has wept with the world??? Okay, uummm NO!! Not unless the world she is speaking of consists of just the voices in her head that have apparently taken over. The only thing she has done to help the world is turn into trailer trash so no one would want to breed with her except for Kevin. Now that is a big help to the population problem. For that and only that Ms. Spears you deserve a star on the walk of fame.
Real classy outfit Britney and the extensions look worse that Jessica Simpson's new line of wigs. SORRY!!!

The Big Three-Oh my where did the time go?

So, yesterday was my hubby's 30th birthday..hence the title. I asked him if he felt any older, which is what we all tend to do even though we know the answer. He told me "no older than a day ago". Which was the answer I expected. I don't know if in one instant, I felt for him the years slipping by as they are for me, or I just felt some sort of nostalgia of days past by me in a flash that I didn't take the time to appreciate. I know he doesn't, but I can't help to think of all the days that go by that I don't just soak up the moment. No, my teenage years were not the greatest, but they were definitely better than some of the years in my 20's. There are lots of things I would've done better, different, kinder, not so fast, etc.. But wouldn't we all? But if I had the chance to do it, would I? If I did, then I probably wouldn't have the husband that I do or my wonderful son. I wouldn't have learned how cruel or nice people can be. I wouldn't have known that I do need to sit back and soak up all that I can from everyday that I am blessed enough to be part of. So, I raise my glass to today and to today I toast "Learn from the past, live in the present, look for the future".
