WTF!!!!!!!
That is pretty much all I have to say to my MIL at this point...WTF!!!! My hubby called her Tuesday evening to let her know it would've been nice to have been told that his Granny was in a nursing home and out of the hospital and all she had to say to him was "well, I have been waiting a couple of weeks for you to call". So, he replied "well you know you always say the road runs both ways" to which she replied nothing. He then said that he called her Saturday and didn't get a call back and she tells him "well I didn't get a message cause the batteries in my answering machine died." Yeah likely story, how do the batteries die but it still picks up and takes the message from Kyle in the first place. So, then she tells him she isn't doing anything for Thanksgiving and I think okay so now we don't have 3 places to go at this point. (YEAH!!!!)
So, Wednesday night I venture out to get some stuff for Thursday that I have forgotten and when I get home I am informed that my MIL got her other son to call me and my husband at 9:30 PM Wednesday night to tell us that she is having something at her house at 4 on Thurday! WTF!!!! I was livid. She couldn't call herself after what my hubby just got through telling her not 1 night before!!!! So, we didn't go. If she had wanted us there she would've called herself. Of course, my husband's grandma (not the one in the nursing home) doesn't see it that way. When that side of the family asked why we didn't go to her house for Thanksgiving I replied "if she had wanted us there she would've called herself" to which I got the lovely response of "well, Pam, maybe when you get older you will understand everything she has on her mind." Yeah like her son who had nothing to do with her for 6 years that all of a sudden needs her when I was the one there for her the last 4 years!!! I politely got up and left her house!!!! How dare his family throw all this back on me and take up for the woman who never has a kind word to say about any of them!!! How dare they make it look like my fault that she is up her other son's ass now and has nothing to do with us because her other son needs her so much now when before he didn't even go over to her house although they lived right beside each other. It is not mine or Kyle's fault that I have tried to go see her and she is never home, or she never gets our messages or she doesn't want to call us or come see us even though she has been invited numerous times.. I AM DONE!!!!! You can't make someone see what they don't want to see! I tried talking to her about 2 months ago and all she had to say to me was basically everything was mine and kyle's fault. That we backed away, and never called anymore. Well, why am I going to keep calling someone that is either never home, doesn't return my phone calls, or wants to see her other grandson all the time anymore over my child. She also told me that she was just trying to get a relationship w/ a grandchild that she hasn't known for 2 years. Oh, and basically disown my child in the process? I don't think so!!!!
Other than all of that drama my Thanksgiving was great!!! Only got to see part of my family since some of them couldn't come down and others were working but it was still good. I made a pie for the 1st time and it went over really well. My dad told me that my grandma would be proud of me!! I made his favorite--Lemon Chess Pie--and he said that he hadn't had one of those since like 1970 and it was every bit as good as he remembered one being :)

When it rains it pours!!!!
So, where do I begin. After a day like today I wish I could be Bill Murray in Groundhog Day and just start all over again. I hope today is not a sign for how this week will go.
For starters, my mother in law is not talking to me or my husband. (Long story, way too long to go into here right now...maybe another time) So, I get over that yesterday only to walk into work today and find a PILE of work that was left for me. I work with a guy who is off this week and Friday he asked me if I would help him out with the work he has now. I think his exact words were something like, "it'll be easy, i will have most of it done by Saturday and all you have to do is get my checks for me and put them together." So, I think no prob. WRONG!!! I got the work this morning and it is 18 folders (yes EIGHTEEN!!!) of work. One of the sets of folders has to be wired to the tax company at that. I have no clue how to do that. So, now i have all of these Maryland taxes to pay plus my New Jersey ones. Then, I find out that instead of being off on Friday, since I am helping him today, I may have to come in a little while on Friday and do his Maryland for him then too.
Okay so I get home and I have made it through the day no other worries. Oh wait, forgot that hubby calls me at work and he has a flat tire. UGH!! Gets it fixed and $21 later has a spare on his truck (they couldn't patch his).
So, I go take a hot bath trying to relax. I put child to bed, and fall asleep doing that. Hubby wakes me up, and I come in here to do a little internet searching. Get a phone call from my father in law. He lets me know that my hubby's grandma is doing Thanksgiving dinner this year at Noon. WHAT!!! Kyle's mom does her's at 11 (which we are not going this year if she doesn't return Kyle's phone call by Thursday--not my idea it was his)(like I said a long story with that one :) ), then we usually go to my mom's at 12:30 and then his grandma's at 6. but this year she decided to change at the last minute. I had to tell my dad in law that we had prior plans, like from a month ago, to go to my mom's at 12:30. His grandma is always doing something like this. Needless to say, I could hear the disappointment in his voice.
So, yes instead of my husband feeling bad for not going, I will end up being the one to feel guilty. My mom says I try to please everyone and you just can't do that all the time. I know that and I tell myself that, but my heart tells me I should feel bad for letting people down. I am hoping that tomorrow is alot better than today.
Oh on a brighter note I did get a rebate check from Verizon tonight in the mail :) Yeah, Christmas money (considering I have bought two gifts so far and they are for the same person...lol)

My Christmas Q & A
Okay, so I stole this from Carol, who got it from a couple of people so if you like you can steal it from me :)
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
I like both but I prefer hot chocolate, or hot apple cider :)
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Both!! The ones in the stockings are always wrapped and the ones sitting out are not.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
I like white ones and the hubster likes colors so we alternate each year.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Nope, never have.
5. When do you put up your decorations?
Usually after Thanksgiving
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
My mom's home made sweet potato casserole. She alternates slices of sweet potatoes and pecans, syrup, and a sugar concoction, and they are to die for!!!
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?
Getting to be the one to decorate the tree, and baking Christmas cookies just for Santa with my mom.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I think I was seven and we had just come home from the mall from seeing Santa, and I asked my mom how he would know where we lived and how he would get in since we didn't have a fireplace. She just froze and couldn't answer me quick enough. :)
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
When I was younger we would go to my grandma's and do that but since she passed away we do everything on Christmas. That means 4 families now on one day--me and my hubby and child, my parents, and his parents (they are divorced so that is two houses for him)
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
Colored lights or white lights and snowmen, snowmen, and more snowmen. Plus bows, and other ornaments I have collected throughout the years.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
Well, since I live in the South I never get to see any so I love the way it looks but I would not want to deal with it day in and day out.
12. Can you ice skate?
Somewhat
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
My favorite childhood one would have to be one year I got all kind of Strawberry Shortcake stuff and an Easy Bake oven, and as an adult these silver hoop earrings from my dad.
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
First of all it would have to be Christ's birth because we wouldn't have Christmas without that, and secondly would be seeing the joy in my child's eyes at all the holiday things! Oh and baking!
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
My mom's sweet potato pie, and her homemade coconut cake.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Reading the Christmas story on Christmas Eve with my family.
17. What tops your tree?
A big garnet colored bow that has 4 long streamers coming off of it down the sides of the tree.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
I always enjoy giving alot more than getting. Especially now that I am a mom.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
Oh holy night
20. Candy Canes?
Definitely!! I love the cinnamon flavored ones the best :)

Changes
So, I just switched to the new blogger beta since I saw the announcement again for it when I signed in tonight. I hope I like it. I will have to play around with it to see what I can find out about it. Right now I am watching the movie Cars for about then umpteenth time!!! But it's all gravy baby since it is a really good movie.
Found out last night that I am going to be an aunt again. My sis in law called me last night and informed me. I am happy for them but it kind of sucks cause I have been trying since June and she started trying in August. Oh well, it will happen when it should :) Just glad that my family is growing. I love babies! however she informed me last night that I need to hurry up and get pregnant so that we can be pregnant at the same time. I wanted to tell her "yeah well i have been trying but some of us just aren't fertile Myrtles!!!" but I bit my tongue. The same girl that wants to be pregnant with me now just told me a month ago that I was selfish and she wasn't waiting on me to get pregnant that she was going to keep trying. She was ready to have another one now. Yeah okay she is kind of psycho!! Either she wants to or doesn't want to have a baby at the same time. Don't they make medicine for people like her. Like vanishing pills maybe??!! lol.
Anyway, so just a couple of changes for right now. Nothing too drastic. Hope everyone is doing well.

My Christmas Table
Okay so I know it is not even Thanksgiving yet, but a group of ladies at my church got together and decorated tables for a dinner we are having tomorrow night. I did a table this year, with the help of a co-worker, and I am really proud of the results. The themes of the table were supposed to be Christmas and you had to come up with a Bible verse to go with your table theme. I did snowmen and the verse I chose was Isaiah 1:18b "...though your sins be as scarlet, they will be white as snow, though they be as crimson they will be like wool." I thought it was appropiate considering I did snowmen. Anyway, I had such a blast. Take a look at how it turned out. Most of the stuff i used for it came from the dollar tree, with the exception of the centerpiece which is my snowman display for home. The chair covers are from the dollar tree, the plates and both glasses (coffee cup and glass) are from dollar tree, and the little snowman tea lamps are from the dollar tree.

One of my brothers lives in NY with his wife and 2 girls and the other brother's little girl (oldest one) stays with her mom most of the time. The little guy is my oldest brother's child also. they are 7, 3, 3, 1, and 1 1/2 months old. Check out my son's really red hair!! of course, when my dad's family, two brothers, and husband have red hair, he pretty much had no choice!! :)

Well, I am happy to report that I am feeling much better today about everything than I was yesterday. I guess I was mostly upset not because I couldn't leave until 12/3 but because I only joblined to get out of the dept that I am in now before year end. And now that I can't leave until December I just feel it was useless to jobline. On the other hand however, this will be a new dept where there is room for growth and opportunity! Plus it doesn't hurt that I have applied for 2 positions with another company today :) I am hoping to hear something from them. One is right up my alley with mortgage loan servicing--dealing with taxes, insurance, and customers. Exactly what I do here :)
So I am going to look on the positive side of things and take what has happened as a good thing in that everything happens for a reason!

Red Tape
Well in a past post I wrote about being worried at finding a job seeing as my company is basically doing away with the tax dept. I got a phone call today and was informed that another dept in the same company wants me for the position. I was thrilled. Not thrilled that I am still at Wamu (and trust me I need a job so I can't quit and I have been looking elsewhere) but thrilled that this was a new dept with chance for quick growth. I was told that my start date would be 10/23. That excited me even more cause taxes is going to be HECTIC in November this year trying to get taxes paid a month earlier than normal because a lot of our loans are going to Wells Fargo. So, I tell my manager, I accept the position, and move on with my day. About 4 this afternoon my VP calls me into the office to inform me that there is no way they can let me go on 10/23 and that I now have to wait until 12/3 (2 months from now instead of 3 weeks) to start my new job. I was pissed off. This company has so much red tape it is pathetic. The tax dept told us to jobline and said that they had 29 postions that could go. They didn't look at the big picture at that time and see that we were going to be swamped with jobs going left and right. Now, the ones of us who want to leave the dept and are getting jobs are told as of today that we can't leave till we service the loans that are going to another company because the same managers that told us to jobline now can't cover their ass!!!!!! As if that wasn't bad enough my manager could see I was upset and all she did was laugh at me cause she thought it was funny that I had been let down. Several other people thought it was funny as well and just said "i knew they were going to do that." My manager told me as she walked away from me that they got an email yesterday informing them that the dates had to be approved. Well, then be a manager and forward us important emails instead of sitting in your cubicle talking about all kind of stuff other than work and walking around talking and then asking us why we are not working when you woudn't allow us to get work from another group when we ran out. She is not upset though cause her transfer date to another dept is 10/16. She is being allowed to go on that date. like my title says "red tape" is all that is there at that company. Needless to say I will be pounding the online pavement as of tomorrow resubmitting my resume to whoever will take it.

I didn't sign up for drama club!!
So, my friend Stacy wrote in one of her previous posts about the week of Hell!!! Well, I am living it as well. I cannot seem to get away from the drama induced mania caused by my husband's family. I just haven't grasped the concept of growing big enough balls to stand up to people yet. I could probably write a novel and 2 sequels with all the madness that abounds in this lovely little gift wrapped package of a family that I have so luckily endowed through marriage.
I guess I will begin with the fact that everything was just fine up until about a yr ago when my brother in law decided that he had had it with his wife and her cheating. He just couldn't seem to grasp that by allowing her to strip for extra cash during their marriage that it might lead to her being a little unfaithful. So, 6 yrs into the marriage he decides to kick her out. Now, he really hadn't spoken to his mom (my mother in law) in 6 yrs either because she and his wife didn't get along. Now that he is getting the witch out of the house, who's help does he need? Yep! His mom's. Dear old mom who he didn't want there when his own child was born, dear old mom who wasn't invited to the child's baptism, and dear old mom who gave him the land his house sits on.
Fast forward almost a year from last November and you will see me and my husband basically being the ones to suffer. I invited her into my delivery room for the birth of her 1st grandchild, I called with all doctor's updates on me and the baby, I called her with the first teeth he cut, the 1st steps taken, etc... I let her keep him overnight, took him over there. When she and her husband moved into the house they are in now, my husband and I drove to help them clean when her own son NEXT DOOR couldn't even come over and help much less offer her a bathroom or water.
She doesn't call us and check on us anymore cause (in her own words) "she is trying to spend time with the son who was away from her for 6 yrs and the grandchild she has barely seen since he was born". Well hello that would be your son's fault for not letting you have anything to do with him yet here lately she can't seem to stop taking up for him. She is trying to help mend the damage that was done with one son and really show she doesn't care about the other. I tried talking to her about it and all she says is that we were the ones to back away. Well, when you are treated like you aren't wanted somewhere and that you and your child (who was basically your life for 2 years) aren't as important now as they were, then you tend to quit going to that place.
I can think back on the times that she said my brother in law was a bad parent and now he can do no wrong.
It's almost as if the past 6 years have been forgotten in her eyes. So, this past weekend my hubbys' granny was put in the hospital. Basically, she is on her death bed. His mom has not even called us to give us updates, but she can call her ex-husband and see if he can pick up the other grandchild for her since she will be up there all week. WTF??!! You are too distraught to call your own son and tell him how his Granny is doing, but you can call and make arrangements for yourself. So, the brother in law calls last night. "Why hasn't kyle called to check on Granny?" I replied "he did twice today. however, no one has bothered to call us about anything -- we didn't even know the room she was in". Him- "oh well I have been up here every night and I am checking on mom and walking her dog for her, and taking care of the stuff at the house for her." He also lets me know that he doesn't think it would be a good idea for my husband to be there cause he doesn't do well in those situations. Well, of course he doesn't want me or Kyle there. Then he wouldn't be the center of attention. Then he wouldn't look like a saint for being the only one to care. I was livid. How dare he call and accuse us of not caring. It is not his place to call us about that. Oh and mighty funny that he has the key to her house to walk her dog when just 3 years ago she thought that he and his wife had something to do with breaking into the house and stealing stuff while she was fixing it up.
All I know is that for the past 5 years I have done nothing but be a good daughter in law and this is the thanks I get! I tried talking to her about 2 weeks ago and of course it is all mine and my husband's fault. All this on top of the stress of trying to find a job. When it rains it pours. My mom just told me to quit worrying about it and what goes around comes around. I guess we will see.
Anyway, sorry for such a long post but the people at work just keep telling me not to worry about it. I appreciate their advice but I don't know how to stand up to people like they do. I just worry too much what people think and really need to work on that. In a nutshell, I am too sensitive for my own good and don't have big enough balls (so to say) to do anything about it.
